We walk off leash almost daily. Our creek is an off-leash haven, and we have many friends there whom we play with and hike with and swim with. Yes, we know the discipline of the leash and can do a heel with the best of them, we love running free and following our noses!! BTW, both Gizmo and Bart's BEST friend is a golden named Joe! He's 7. When they see him (I walk the boys separately because they are so strong) they both wiggle and squeak. It's the cutest thing!!rottroverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12040584911302243673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6339087872750174307.post-54497542593848884412011-08-25T18:23:48.830+02:002011-08-25T18:23:48.830+02:00Wooooo Hoooooo look at you two go! While there are some "off leash" dog parks available, my mom and dad are concerned about the other dogs that are there and how "rough" they might be. They've heard enough stories of off leash dogs attacking other dogs, even on the street that they are pretty wary of any off-leash dog. But sometimes my mom and dad take all four of us to a large indoor facility where they let us run free and that's alot of fun and does not cause my parents any concern. We'll probably order an e-version of your book.My Dog Sam - Ruptured Diskhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03274823343453883938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6339087872750174307.post-58038568130748431362011-08-25T16:14:04.684+02:002011-08-25T16:14:04.684+02:00What a great time Toby and Tammy are having in the...What a great time Toby and Tammy are having in the dog park. Freedom time indeed. I am curious to know how big the park is.

Bertie just loves to run free, and one of my greatest pleasures in life is simply watching him. We are lucky in having so many places in Scotland (not just special dog parks) where Bertie can be let off his lead, and I am so glad I had the confidence to ignore the many folk who told me that his breed can never be trusted "off-leash". (In fact he has in general been good about returning to me when called - so far!)

I have a theory, based purely on my blogging experiences, that people in the UK are much more relaxed than about allowing dogs to run free than they are in many other countries (especially in the USA). Possibly this is because in Britain there is less of a 'compensation culture' and fewer guns around. Also fewer dangerous wild animals and a stronger tradition of rights of access to privately owned land - public footpaths etc. I'd be interested to read what others think about this.

Cheers, Gail.WFT Nobbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14315143664245246248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6339087872750174307.post-54377175091486067712011-08-25T13:22:47.867+02:002011-08-25T13:22:47.867+02:00I couldn't agree more, Caryl. I hate to think of his time at him as being captive, but he relishes the freedom of being unfettered. In fact, when I take the leash of him, my command is always, "Go be a dog."Curt Rogershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01092702507137136310noreply@blogger.com
