Hello there to all our cyber-friends!
LEXI: Aged NINE WEEKS.
---xXx---
A week has flown by and our pup is growing at an alarming rate. Since her arrival on the 25th January 2013, our 'Sunbeam' has put on nearly a kilogram in weight. The scale is tipping at a whopping 5.9 Kilograms!
She is thriving on her diet; 4 x meals a day of
HILLS SCIENCE PLAN: PUPPY.

HILLS SCIENCE PLAN: PUPPY.
In Lexi's little life, only three things matter:
1. FOOD!
2. PLAY!
3. PASS OUT!
My plan, however is a little more extensive, with the addition of:
4. Some basic obedience training: "Come!", "Sit" and "Down" (to which she has responded very nicely indeed). She sits and waits for her food now which is extremely endearing.
5. Exposure to new things that will aid the nurturing of her personality. For example, the introduction to different types of people and objects.
As her immunity develops, Lexi will also be exposed to different kinds of dogs/animals and environments. Once she has had her second set of vaccinations, her puppy socialisation will begin in earnest.

This weekend, we introduced Lexi to our swimming pool.
In my opinion, it is critical that she is taught where the pool 'steps' are and how to get out safely. We have a bit of work to do on this one because she is still too small to climb out on her own. However, we started off this exercise by allowing her to swim a few short distances towards the step, where we helped her exit. Lexi's response to the whole episode was calm and confident. Take a look at the short video clip:

We also invited a number of friends and family around on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon for tea. Lexi had MANY people to meet. Here are some photographs taken from those two events:

Meeting people is hard work...in between, Lexi elected to have a puppy pass-out-parade...
Soon, it was back to spending time with the visitors.

Yesterday our 'Sweet Hooligan' TOBY felt it was time to showcase his pool moves too:

Over the weekend, Lexi and Aunt Tam shared some bonding time too:
And I also had the opportunity to spend time with the dogs:

Lexi's bond with various members of our household is also cementing.

One of the strongest forming bonds is with her canine role-model, the 'Sweet Hooligan' Toby.
These two have already formed a happy, companionable bond. Toby is never far from Lexi's side and the two play continuously. Aunt Tam, has also thawed and is allowing Lexi into her personal space.

I have prepared a short video of Toby and Lexi playing together:

Pool safety is very important. Dexter absolutely refuses to use anything other than the stairs at our neighbor's pool (no dock diving for him).
The little gal is relentless with Toby. I saw Miss Tammy keeping her distance in the video.

Squee!!! Please keep the cuteness coming. Lexi is so adorable I can't stand it. I can only imagine how much more fun it is in real life.

What a wonderful post. We were grinning from ear to ear watching Lexi discover her world and the other Goldens begin to accept her. Toby is terrific with her. Thanks for sharing.
I love lexi's video! She is soo soo cute and looks like she has a amazing family around her!!! p.s- I am doing a ancient dog event over on my blog where you just enter your dogs name and breed and he can be entered to have a history review all about his breed and how he came to be!
She sure is growing into a lovely little girl. I think the photos that I ♥ the most are of the bottoms of her feet. I love those tootsies!
