LETS RIDE THE RHYTHMS OF LIFE...

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXMOM here...

What is it about having the flu that makes one feel so rotten?

It's like being weeded out of the world’s garden – confined to a place reserved for untouchables. Running nose, blocked sinuses, aching muscles and streaming eyes. Not a pretty sight at all!  I’m not surprised nobody wants to come near me. The dogs, however, don’t mind a bit. Like shadows, they mimic my moves. Their fondness - unconditional!

After much resistance, I eventually slump onto my bed and tuck my toes under the warmth of the feather duvet. The dogs settle in the corner. Brrrr, I could do with a hot-water bottle, I think. But that means I have to get up again. Oh dear.

“So, I’m miserable…so what?”

My laptop is a good companion. Self-imposed isolation never has to be so dramatic nowadays. In fact, it doesn’t have to be isolation at all. Thanks to modern technology, I will remain connected to the world’s spinning wheel. That knowledge, in itself, makes me feel better.

It doesn’t last long. The attraction of cyberspace is finally swamped by fatigue and I finally submit to slumber.  I dream of comforting smiles and understanding demeanours; and of course the hope that, by some remote chance, my childhood treat of soft porridge and cinnamon sugar will simply materialise before my eyes.

Fantasies!

But, thank goodness for cyberspace.

If you, too, are under-the-weather at the moment, join me in marvelling at of our beautiful Namaqualand daisies. (photograph above) They're blooming in our country at the moment -  arisen from the dormancy of their own hibernation. They offer us the reassurance that our afflictions are only temporary.  Soon, we'll once again be...

LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX!
Sending lotsaluv to you all,

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. The flu sucks big time so take it easy and rest if you can so that your body has strength to make a speedy recovery.

Hi there, So sorry you are feeling horrid. I hope the pups will take good care of you, but then when you are feeling so bad sometimes even that is not what helps. Sending up prayers for you to have a speedy recovery dear friend.

Well I'm not sure if Toby could quite manage to make porridge with cinnamon sugar (the lack of opposable thumb problem yet again), but surely he could act as a hot-water bottle substitute?
Hope you're feeling better soon MaxMom.

Please feel better soon. Those pals of yours know how to take care of you, with lots of love. And if they could, they'd cook you up pots and pots of porridge.

When you speak to us,, it seems as if you are really right here.
But you are not, so maybe you are like an honest story.
But your not a story - you are real.
Perhaps as you wish, maybe your childhood dream of soft porridge and cinnamon sugar will dance before you as the stars twinkle tonight.
I hope so.
I am sorry you are sick. Its a real bummer for the soul.
But know we send you healing wishes.
I wish I could bring you some chicken soup, if only I could.

I love your beautiful Namaqualand daisies.
This post describes what you feel so beautifully
