MY GOLDEN PUP...2 WEEKS OLD

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!!!
MAXMOM here...
Hello there to all my friends across the world...

I couldn't resist!
I just had to go and visit them again this weekend!!!
...also to ensure that my choice of pup is still as strong as it has been.
Well...the question of 'WHICH ONE?"
seems to be a thing of the past.
The little 'magnet' is pulling tighter than ever...
I have know which one he is from when he was just one day old!
He's the one on the right hand side (above)...
The whitest pup of the litter...
They say that he is...
"The laid back one!"

He is...
MY GOLDEN PUP!
Isn't he just too beautiful!!!?
His little ears are so sweet.
They have a tiny kink of fur at their very tips...
He is looking so healthy!
Very well fed and more than content!...

He even rolls onto his back the same way as Maxdog did.
The pups' eyes are not entirely open yet, but this week they are much more alert.
My pup weighs in at 2100g this week...he's put on nearly 1000g in weight!

He yawns!
Suckling is heavy work!
Molly (the pups' mom) is an absolute honey in the ways she looks after her seven pups!
Such a wonderful mother!
Check out my little one saying hello to Mommy (above).
Molly keeps an eye open when I'm holding her little one.
He got his first real taste of me too...
look at his little pink tongue (above)
Oh how precious indeed!
What on earth am I going to call him?
He needs a name and I've been through thousands and am still confused.
I was wondering...
What would YOU, my friends, suggest for a name for this dear little one?
???

He is still so tiny and I want him to stay with his mom for as long as possible.
This means that he'll probably only be coming home towards the end of September.
It's a long wait, but it is going to be so worthwhile!!!

Sleep well, little one!
Grow well too!
Be happy with your siblings!
You are much loved!

---xXx---

With grateful thanks to...
Zena and Alan at
RUFFITWOOD GOLDEN RETRIEVERS
for your generosity of time and for allowing me access to your beautiful puppies!

Sending lotsaluv to you all...

Oh he is such a cutie! What a great group they all are - and he is just such a sweetie! For names, hm, that is a tough one. Walter is a cute name for a boy dog (or Wally), if you want to stick to people like names. I am not sure what I would go with either - sometimes the name is just easy and instant and sometimes it takes a while. I would say wait a few more weeks to see how his personality develops.

Even more gorgeous, this week, I wouldn't have thought it possible.
As for names, well, having just gone through the process myself a couple of months ago, I am aware of some of the pitfalls!
So before you chose a name, I suggest you check that you are not inadvertently calling your new pet after some widely disliked ancestor of whom you were not previously aware, like a certain Great Uncle Bertie Bellamy!!
Also, it never occurred to me that calling out the name 'Bertie' in the park would immediately 'out' me as English to all and sundry.
But despite all that I still like the name!
Will be thinking about one for the little white fella.
Cheers, Gail.

"Chip" off the old Max block.

Those are just incredible pictures. We are so happy for you and will be watching the little guy grow into a handsome, intelligent Golden boy.

Oh,,someone said Chip,,I like that name.
He's such a little love; a Honey nut cheerio. I can tell you are just soaking him up when you are there. I'm so glad you went to see he and his lovely mom. Oh, Sam is a good name...I think that's from watching Casablanca this weekend!! LOL.

Hello Caryl! Well, you've certainly given me another and much needed "aaaaaaaawwwww" moment when I needed it!! The puppies are just so precious and so beautiful!! I'll try to think of a name too, but something tells me your heart may already have an idea! :-))) Keep those pictures coming, I can never see enough of them!! I hope you and your family are doing well!

Love these puppy pictures! Makes me think back to when Darwin was a tiny tiny tiny puppy! Its so special that you get to see your new pup and watch all the changes he goes through (eyes and ears opening, etc).
Names are tough... Im sure the right one will come to you at the right time. My family used to have a Golden named Hunter. We also had other dogs, Maxwell (max), Tagg, and Samson (sam).

Choosing a name is always the hardest part - but when I look at him, all I can think of is Timmy.

Erin said...

Oh man! I the worst at picking out names, and so glad that most of my pups come "pre-named" but good luck I know you'll find the perfect one for him!

Angel Junior, Orion and Sammy said...

He is soooooooooooo cute!!!

He is so pale in comparison to the others, so we first thought of Cotton. Someone said he is creamy, but Cream might be a bit too odd of a name.

We were also thinking that this little one is helping mend your heart after MaxDog's passing, but you can't name him Mend...so we were thinking Patch or Patches cause he has patched up your heart??

He is just beautiful. It is very hard to suggest a name for someone else's puppy. We really think the right one will come to you when you least expect it. But we were thinking of something that connotes
"new life". We do like the idea of Chip.

Only two weeks??? Gosh, time needs to fly.

He is so cute and has grown so much!

The word that stands out in your post is "precious" - perhaps the translation of this word (or the words "Golden Boy" "little one" or "whitest" which you also call him) into one of the eleven languages in your country may point you to a name that seems right to you.

Your little boy is just precious!
We are so horrible at names! We'll leave guessing to the experts!

Love ya lots

OMD Caryl they are each and every one of them BEAUTIFUL!!!

When you showed the pic of "the pup" being weighed I had to laugh, Tessa didn't weigh 2100 grams until she was 4 Months old!

I notice that you keep saying how "calm" and "layed back" he is, or how he has a "kink" in his ear. Then in the last pic of you holding him, you both look so "content" like you have found your "heart beat". Well, how about if you translate one of those words to SA?

He's just so darned cute! It must have been really hard to put him down and go home.

As far as names go, Riley popped into my head as I was looking at him, since I'm sure he'll live the life of Riley with you, but I've always found that with a little time, the names always come to me. When I find the perfect one, it just seems to stick. Then again, maybe he's a Murray, or a Butterscotch, or a Calvin. Bah! I'm obviously no help!

Naming a dog is always an adventure. Amazinghow many times I knew what dog's name was going to be, only to find out it just did not fit (remember that Rusty was Boris - never fit him). My belief is that the name will just come to you one day because it was the name that just always belonged to him - just took you a while to discover it.

Hello Maxdog Mom!

The lil one is looking really good! We count the days with you and we are so happy to join you in your visit via the lovely photos.

We come up with names from the most unexpected ideas so we'd stick with you choice. You always have the best words in your posts and we're sure you will have the perfect name as you hold him in your arms.

Woof! Woof! How cute. For sure you are excited n cant wait. It's hard to suggest a specific name. The name must mean something to you n your family. It will be more meaningful and precious later on. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

That little one is so precious! I wouldn't even know what to begin to tell you to name him! I like to take some part of their personality and use that to name my pets usually. Like Shiver shivers, my dog Frisky was a frisky girl, Scratches like to use his claws, etc. I didn't name Chico, I'm not sure what I would've called him. I didn't change it when I got him because his papers say Chico on them.

Whatever you name him, I'm sure it'll be perfect!

Awww!! Too cute!! How about the name Damon? Hummer? Or something cute like Bear or Hubbs? Haha! Good luck with choosing the right name for him :)

We kinda guessed it'd be the fairest pup of the litter!! He is so so so adorable and like you, we can't wait for him to come home so that we can see more pics of the little cutie pie!
Love the pics of you cuddling him too... it's oozing with love!! Great job to Molly for ensurng that all her 7 pups are healthy and well-fed.
Good luck with finding him a name!! If my next dog's a boy, I will be naming him 'Hercules' (following with the 'H' tradition..). Some other non 'H' names that I like are Bingo and Benjy.. Good luck!!

He sure is a cutie pie. Wow! Even I wouldn't mind having him visit. Golly, I am not thinking well on names, but I think something that has a South African ring to it would be nice.

How gorgeous they all are - Neeli tells me she remembers the same type of moments when she was a wee pup.

What about Luke or Luka? River?

He is a beautiful pup - may the time go by quickly for you as you watch him grow up over the next 6 weeks!

Naming a good friend is such a personal task that I will leave that to you, dear friend. My next dog, hopefully a golden, will be named Journey. Don't ask me why but that name calls out to me. Your little sausage is getting bigger and rounder each time you visit. He seems to be the pup with the most pudgy tummy of all. Rest well, you'll need every bit of sleep you get now because once that little boy makes it into your arms forever, you'll have a lot of work on your hands and many adventures ahead.

Oh my word...I go on vacation for a few days and lo and behold return to find 7 puppies and Molly on your blog.
The precious puppy of your choice is a handsome fellow.

Naming a pet is very hard.
I like the name Monte or Mickey.
We have a Labradoodle in the neighborhood named Biscuit. I think that is cute. He is about the color of your precious boy.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....we JUST caught up on your posties....Mumsie's been fussin' over Daddy...who's back to work and doin' FABBERS....and I've been watchin' over Mumsie makin' sure she eats and such..."What Scruffy? That's a total lie and that I've really been dating constantly?...um well, go away..."

Now this pup is a boy, huh??? I think you should call him LACIEBOY. "What Stan, that's the stoopidest thing you've ever heard?" Oh...well, 'kay...it might be a bit odd...how old before he dates, may I ask????? I'm just sayin'....

So get this...we put a bid in for an auction on a Khyra transport...and guess what our word verrification was???

MAXESSUR...Max is SURE!!!!!

Oh, we KNOW he is watchin' over your family...and Molly has an expression which is just so Max...

Love you all!!!

This chosen one
will get the
"CHANCE"
very soon,
to pick a name of his own.
And as his journey begins
with you by his side,
his "CHANCE"
will begin
to spread the legacy of Maxdog.
It's the "CHANCE" of a life time.
He and you will pick his name.

I like one of the African words you taught us for his name. Mkhulu. Ubuntu. But my favorite is Letstatsi... :-)
