IT'S A DOG'S LIFE!

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
TOBY here...

Hello there every-furry-buddy!

As Christmas draws closer, I am beginning to notice subtle changes in our household.  "Maxmom's" domestic chores seem to be on the increase as she spends more and more time in her kitchen, mixing up various interesting smelling concoctions.  I have been introduced to the aromas of muffins, Christmas cakes, fudge as well as all her regular tastebud tantilisers at supper time. Whew, it's hard having to restrain myself, but I am learning that if I lie in the corner, I eventually get attention.

Since the household is a buzz of activity, I simply get on with my wonderful life of
'constant fun 'n games'.
I love being "Maxmom's" shadow and I love to lie near her and dream my doggie-dreams. My dreams are even better when accompanied by the rhythms eminating from her audio set.

My wonderful canine coach - Aunt Tam' - is always on call too. She hovers near me to keep a constant beady eye on my antics. I love my Aunt Tam'! We have lots of fun together and she's always up for a game. The two of us managed to sneak into the piano room last evening for a game of 'bitey-face'.

Sadly we were caught by the 'flashy beast' and our game was cut short.
"Maxmom" noticed our absence and came to look for us.
"Outside Dogs!" she boomed.

Thankfully 'Outside' is just as much fun!
I have the pool at my disposal (and I love swimming!) and we have the best weather in the world! Bright blue, sunny skies during the day and the sounds of rumbling thunderstorms in the evening.

When the sun dips to the horizon and the afternoon cools down, "Maxmom" migrates to our garden.  This is her time to tend to her plants and I get to play with the water coarsing through the hosepipe.
Has anydog got any suggestion of how to catch water?
My biting doesn't seem to work and "Maxmom" can't stop laughing at me.

Once the plants' thirst has been quenched, Aunt Tam and I congregate around "Maxmom" on the green grass where she brushes us up to our golden glory.  The King does his evasive tricks at that time (I don't think he enjoys being brushed) and he initiates a loud barking frenzy at the wall with the neighbour's dogs. That's quite okay with me because Aunt Tam and I have "Maxmom's" undivided attention...We love being brushed!

That's all my news for the moment!

I want to wish you all a "dog's life" week!

Lotsalicks too...

Dear little Toby
You are too cute! How do you manage to stay so quiet when Maxmom is so busy in the kitchen??? Wow, Christmas in the summer weather - now that's something that Neeli & I would really enjoy.

Toby such a good helper in the kitchen! Cricket tried to help by cleaning the floor while I made sugar cookies. We had to have a chat and remind her that was Missy's job and she wasn't supposed to as a working guide. So tempting with my messy cooking. Hope you have a good day and keep trying to catch the water :)

You are growing SO fast, Toby. Lying in a corner of the kitchen is a great strategy. That's what our puppy R did... and he still loves the same spot where he laid as a puppy.

Love the bitey face photos! Good job MaxMom!

I'd love a dog's life for a week, especially a dog's life like yours!

Hello Toby!

Your growing a bit too big for your basket but that's ok. You still sleep so soundly in it.

Fudgie also loves to catch the hose water by biting into the water and piappies mom always laughs at it.

It's good to know that your weather is as good as ours too. Keep up the good work of snoopervising Maxmom with the Christmas chores. It is getting more busy by the day.

Enjoy your week!

Love,

Oh yes, a dog's life indeed. You look so content, dreaming away there on your bed. And do you really just lie there in the corner and wait until you get attention? Wow!

The Life of Riley said...

Hi Toby,

Here in NZ I'm literally living "the life of Riley"(with good food, lots of love and attention, walks, adventures, fun and games with other dogs, and also not a worry in my little world) so I'm glad to read you're also enjoying living a dog's life where you are. You are growing up so fast, and my mum keeps looking at old photos of me and then your blog pictures - becasue sometimes she thinks we look so much alike.

Woofs,
Riley

Toby

Such lovely photos and such lovely weather! We are freezing cold over here and Clive hasn't seen the grass in over 10 days (very unusual for Ireland). We need it to melt away and for some warmer weather to come our way!

Enjoy your swimming - we love the idea that you swim in your pool - Clive got into the pond yesterday here - only because it was totally frozen over and covered in snow and he ran over it - not realising what it was!!

take care
