IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING!

GREETINGS FROM A POURING...
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA!
 TOBY here...

Hello there, dear friends...

The rain is unrelenting and has been pouring down on us for the past 3 days.  Last night (the whole night) it felt like an endless bucket was being tipped out onto us.  The latest news is that we had over 70mm during the night.  Our rivers have broken their banks and some of our highways are flooded too.

(The "little" stream - usually 1m width - in our park)
But each for their own....for us GOLDEN RETRIEVERS this weather is perfect!!!!

It's cuddle time when we are inside the house and its a romping frenzy when we get an opportunity to go outside to investigate.

It's a public holiday here in South Africa today, so the "Boss" is home and celebrating with us with
Miss "R"s fabulous news....see last post!

This morning however, Maxmom and the Boss were chased up early so that we could go and  take a look at our little stream...

Well, it too had broken it's banks...
(Sorry about the bad quality photos...my camera is really playing up!)
How wonderful for us dogs and the Hadedah Ibises
(you can see one behind the fence).

We love running and splashing in the puddles.

There is so much to investigate...so much 'doggie-news' being poured into our turf...what fun!!!

I don't know how long this rain is going to last, but our dams will be full and the weather cool.
This kind of rain however always has consequences for those humans who live in the shacks in low lying areas...so we spare a thought for their demise.
It must be very worrying when all your belongings get washed away with an encroaching river.

Anyway, we are comfortable here -  even our front garden is water-logged .

Our gutters too aren't really coping with all the water...

Phew...we're going to have a very wet Christmas.
But nothing can dampen our spirits...

(Aunt Tam' and Toby celebrating!)
Our tree is up and
Miss "R" is now an 'official' Veterinary Student.
Congrats Miss "R"!!!
we are all so very proud of you!!!
Sending lotsalicks

Oh I love that picture of Aunt Tam and Toby celebrating. Gail and I did a little dance here too when we heard Miss 'R's good news!
But that rain does look bad, even to a Scot!! I'm thinking that your swimming pool is a bit superfluous just now..
Toodle pip!

PS As for dark 'mornings', well somedays if its cloudy (i.e. usually) it feels as is it doesn't get properly light here at all. At least the snow, which returned last night, brightens things up.

You water retrieving doggies just don't know when to stop. I can see you are loving the giant puddles and rushing rivers. Hope that it doesn't go into your house.

Wow, what great weather for Golden's. I bet there are towels waiting just inside the door to dry them off.

Congratulations to Miss R!!! That's wonderful news!! You are getting too much rain and we are getting snow and sleet here. I'd rather be where it's warm if I could be though!! Love the picture of Toby and Aunt Tam celebrating!!! Lots of love, Holly and mom

We loved Aunt Tam and Toby's celebratory dance in the rain!!! (Gene Kelly would have approved.)

Over here in South Florida, with no rain for quite some time, we're looking at increased watering restrictions. It's either too wet or too dy. Too hot or too cold. Nature has her own way of dealing with us! One minute we're ecstatic that no hurricanes hit us; the next we're whining that we need rain!

But as long as we have dogs -- and daughters to make us proud -- it's all good.

Wow - I can't believe it's that wet over there when in Beaufort West they don't have a DROP of water left in their dams!

They're actually asking people to take 2x5litre containers with water to drop off if passing by the town!

We are indeed a country of contrasts!

Hugs to you all

Hi Toby! Wow that is crazy how much rain you are getting. It is good that you like it but we feel bad for the people who have to deal with it! We are behind so we just read the news - congrats to Miss R for getting into Vet school - that is so cool!!

Hi Toby

All that rain is just like Ireland! That's what we get a lot of the time!!

Hope your sun comes back out for Christmas. Huge congrats to Miss R - that is wonderful for her - we wish her the very best in her future studies.

Thank you so much to your Mom for sending us the lovely Christmas card - and the lovely note. It was very much appreciated. We have a lovely photo of it on our blog post today.

Here's hoping that rain has stopped ....
