OPY, A "DOGS WITH BLOGS" ICON...

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXMOM here...

(17/11/1996 - 23/12/2010)

Most Dog-Bloggers and Cat-bloggers will have some knowledge of an amazing phenomenon which happens in our cyber-space community at various times.

It’s called ‘THE POWER OF THE PAW’.

The Power of the Paw is an uncanny and surreal energy, which emerges from cyberspace, when a fellow blogger is struggling in one way or another. It becomes evident as an enormous tsunami of good wishes, prayers, warmth and love is poured out by strangers all across the globe, towards that particular blogger.

If you have been on the receiving end of this incredible experience, you will understand that this is something beyond any human control or understanding. I personally believe it is directly from God, because it is most definitely uplifting, encouraging, supportive and it warms one’s heart like nothing else.

One is forced to consider:

“How can it be that strangers from all over the world can be so loving, caring and so generous with their hearts, their money and their time?”
I can honestly say that my life changed dramatically when I first joined up with
 DOGS WITH BLOGS
and aligned myself to this incredible community. Little did I expect at the time that in the near future - during the time of my own "Maxdog’s" illness – It would be me who would be on the receiving end of this immensely uplifting “THE POWER OF THE PAW”.
It was this special cyber-community who sustained my spirit during the arduous months of fighting for Max’s life. It was the bloggers (both cat and dog) who had become my most treasured support group. Without their presence in my life, I would truly have been a mess.

Why am I telling you this?

Well, today the blogging world is extremely saddened.

We have lost an iconic fur-friend in our community.

crossed the rainbow bridge sometime in the past 24 hours.
This doggy's amazing owners – Brooke and Greg – where the original initiators of DOGS WITH BLOGS. They were part of the dedicated team who put our precious community together. Without their original initiatives, perhaps I (and many others) would not have found the support and community at the time when we needed it most.
Without OPY in Brooke and Greg’s lives, who knows?
So, today is a sad day for us all and one where I would like (in my small way) to pay tribute to these amazing people, their amazing animals and their special OPY.

Thank you Brooke and Greg for what you have done for Dogs with Blogs!

From the bottom of my heart I say...

THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOURSELVES AND OPY WITH US!

May you be comforted at this sad time in the knowledge that your work has reached out – far and wide – and brought the same kind of comfort which you will surely also be receiving.

Run Free, sweet Opy!
With heartfelt love,

It's been just a bit more than twenty four hours since we learned of her condition and then her passing -

We are still numb -

And can only imagine what Brooke, Greg, and Benson J Puppypaws are feeling -

Great post -

This is a beautiful post and a wonderful tribute to Opy. We have already been over and left a message of comfort ~ because although we didn't know Opy or his family, we do understand the pain of grief. And if the power of the paw can help in the teeniest tiniest way, we will gladly paw.

Run free Opy. You are clearly loved by many.

I'm not familiar with Opy or Dogs with Blogs but how sad.

Your tribute is very touching. Will stop by their blog and leave a few comments of support.

We had been by Opy's place to offer our sympathy to his PAWrents. When one of 'our own' complete the Circle of Life it is always such a sad time but we know that they have met a fate that is destined for all of us. However, that doesn't make the pain any easier to bear or the tears any less prolific.
