GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
LIVE STRONG DAY
SATURDAY 2nd OCTOBER 2010
Hello there to all my friends across the globe...
TODAY IS THE 4th MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF
THE PASSING OF MY DEAR...
Maxdog lived life to the absolute MAX!
Despite being given only 2 weeks to live, he went on to live a further 107 wonderful days of grace.
May his legacy encourage those who fight the battle against cancer.
Please remember

A great motto and a great reminder too!! We all remember Maxdog's brave fight that taught all of us...
I had heard a few years ago that 85% of all Golden Retrievers die from some form of cancer, which is way, way too high! However there is research being done now to find that cause and to hopefully change that--Two senior Goldens that I had at the time gave "genetic samples" as part of that study. And even though they have passed, I so hope that their longevity helped and will make a difference for precious young Goldens like Toby so they do not face this terrible disease.
Toby - You are wise beyond your age. So many dogs end up with some form of cancer - I have lost two of mine to it. I like your idea of honoring Live Strong day. I still wear a Live Strong bracelet that I put on more than a year a go when my S was diagnosed with cancer. He's departed but I'll never forget him, Max, or the others who have lost their battles to this disease.
I seem to recollect that there's a foundation devoted to fighting canine cancer. Perhaps I'll make a donation to them on Livestrong day.
Wonderful post, so many of us have been touched by this terrible disease.
We have lost many of our Goldens, and this past year we lost our daughter-in-law at age 36 to ovarian cancer.
We must do everything possible to eradicate this disease from the face of the earth.

Great motto!! We have lost a dog and a cat to cancer along with a husband and a good friend. Live Strong!!! Lots of love, Holly and mom
Thank yoo so much for supporting LIVESTRONG Day. MaxDog was an inspiration and definitely LIVED STRONG for as long as he could. We will never forget him or stop loving him.
Thanks for the reminder, Maxdog Mom! We did make the most of the time we had with Max through your posts all throughout.
We have loved ones going through these struggles and we keep our paws crossed for all of them. Live Strong is strongly lived by Max and we have been inspired by this even when he has gone to watch over us over at the rainbow bridge.
Love,

I remember so well those 107 days and how strong Max was throughout his illness. We will be thinking about him and so many other friends who have fought or are fighting (and sometimes beating) this invidious disease.
V. best wishes,
Gail (and Bertie).
What a great post!
Great post. Maxdog may be gone, but he will never be forgotten! Live Strong!
Toby reminds me of Max. We'll put a post on our blog for Oct 2nd. live strong day. Thanks for the update and have a great weekend.
Love from all of us in the holler to you.
We are already planning our yellow festivities. Did you know that Ann, Zoey kitty's momma, has said that she will do one graphic in yellow for each kitty or pup that sends her a photo? We are sending ours in this weekend. Right now momma is tryin' to decide which one of us will get the honor.
My dear wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. She is healthy today after 9 years of cancer free living. We celebrate Live Strong every day. Of my 4 Goldens, 1-died of cancer, 1-heart failure, 1- old age and hopefully Lady will live to a ripe old age. Yes, Goldens seem to have an abnormally high rate of cancer. Responsible breeding and research may reduce that dramatically.
"LIVE STRONG" Day,,,
we will be right there with you to join the fight.
Maxdog will never be forgotten!
