GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
TOBY here...
Hello there every-furry-buddy!
I've been kept really busy lately with my rehearsals for the musical production of
'Annie'
which is being presented by the
'RANDBURG HOERSKOOL"
in May this year.
There are only 70 days to go before opening night, and the practice sessions are now in full swing.
Last night, I spent nearly 3 hours with the wonderful children in this cast.
I simply LOVE being with these young people!
They are so friendly and patient with me.
Thank you, guys!
"Maxmom" accompanied me last night, as well as two of the trainers from
Ms Shannon and Ms Yolande.
Apparently they were all most impressed with my behaviour, but Maxmom says I mustn't let it go to my head just yet. She says that there is still a lot to learn.
During the first part of my visit, Maxmom asked me to simply 'be quiet and relax', while I watched all their shenanigans.
(Check me out...On stage...in the distance...)
She says it is important for me to learn how to chill in these hectic environments.
I watched them dance to some wonderful music and they used all sorts of props - balls, buckets, feather-dusters, cloths, etc.
I watched them dance to some wonderful music and they used all sorts of props - balls, buckets, feather-dusters, cloths, etc.
(I barked at the balls at first)
I repeat:
I simply LOVE being with these young people!
Once the dancing scenes were over, "Annie" and "The Dog-catcher" stayed behind to rehearse one of the scenes with me.
There is something special about 'Annie' - I just LOVE to work with her, even though I am bigger than her in size (I think?). She is very cute AND she gives me treats. She is also learning how to walk me and to give me some non-verbal commands - like when I have to "Come" even though she calls for 'Sandy'.
Why can't they get my name right?
But, Yes, I like 'Annie'...lots!
By-th-the-way, that 'Dog-catcher' doesn't frighten me at all!
Besides, I don't think 'Annie' would allow it anyway.
Maxmom has made up a short video of last night's rehearsal.
Please keep in mind that this is only the second time we have rehearsed this scene. I am still new to this acting stuff, but apparently they really liked it. I hope you like it too.
If for some reason you cannot view the video, please go to the link

That's all for now!
I'm off to play with Aunt Tam'

An amazing job, Toby! Amazing! You really are a wonder pup! That's a lot of movement and stimuli for a little fellow to handle..but you did perfectly! Don't get too hung up on perfection. This is live theatre and even the most seasoned make mistakes. Enjoy your role and let everyone fall in love with you.
I'm so proud of you, Toby! You did an excellent job.
I hope your mom will be able to share some video from the live performance - maybe a snippet or two of you doing your thing.

Hi Toby
Wow you are so CALM.
I have to keep reminding Gail that if SHE had wanted a calm dog, she would not have looked for a wire haired fox terrier!
Tell me Toby, when all those fine young people are jumping around, waving their arms and making a noise, are you not just a teeny weeny bit tempted to join in??
Toodle pip!
Bertie (who will probably not be a stage dog any time soon!)
You are such a STAR, Toby!!!!

Man, Toby! I couldn't sit still for the long stretches that you are able to do and I think I'm a couple of months older than you! What a huge star you are - I am so very impressed and so are my sisters!!! Great job...
Big Hugs xoxoxo
Avalon (and Sammie and Ozzie too!)
That was a most amazing movie! What an actor you are. Like totally into the role of Sandy and coming when called and pretending not to come and everything. You are going to steal the show.
Slobbers,
mango
Oh Wow, Toby - you were BRILLIANT!!!!! first, I loved the bit where you sort of flopped over when Annie came over to pat you - hee! hee! That's my kind of acting! But then the most amazing part is when she called you - how on earth did your human teach you to ignore the first 2 calls and come the last time?? That is so clever!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
