HAPPY BLOGGING!

GREETINGS FROM SUNNY SOUTH AFRICA!!!
MAXMOM here...
Hello there to all my friends across the world!
Thanks to GEORGE THE LAD's amazing blogpost today, I am doing something completely different...simply writing, because that is what I enjoy!
If you haven't yet seen his post, please go and take a look.  As bloggers, I think we should frame it and paste it at our keyboards to remind us what blogging is about!
Blogging is not about managing the guilt from not getting to everybody's blogs, but rather about celebrating the opportunity of blogging...feeling free to connect with the world!

Thank you, George, for reminding me to
HAVE FUN!!!
---XxX---

Now I was wondering if any of you would be able to help me out?
If you recall, we will be calling my new pup
"TOBY"
You will also know that there were two reasons for this name choice:
Firstly, TOBY reminds me of that soft, smooth, swiss chocolate which can only really be appreciated when you are sitting down and savouring every bit...
...and secondly, TOBY reminds me so much about a childhood storybook that I loved!!!

Now this is where I need your help. I want to know if anyone remembers this book and could perhaps tell me the author and where I can get it ???
My memory is rather scanty because I was only a little girl at the time - about 5 yrs old - on a remote farm in South Africa where there were many better distractions than reading books.  But it was a favourite of mine and my mother would read it to me at bedtime. I mainly remember the 'effect' at the end of the story.
It was all about returning "home".

Here are some more snippets from the dark alleys of my memory...

* We are talking about the 1960's
* It was mainly a children's picture book with a simple little story - about 12 pages.
*It had a 'cardboard' cover with a silver neck binding.
* It was about 'running away from home' and returning at the end.
* It is NOT the "Toby runs Away"...to a circus! (which can be googled!)
*Toby in this story was a little boy with blond hair and I think he wore a cap???(red???)
*He walked down a little country path and stopped to watch the cows.

So....does anyone know this particular book?
I would love to hear from you.

And remember...
HAPPY BLOGGING
Sending lotsaluv

Hi Maxmom
I am very touched by what you said about my post, and did not think you would go is far as putting a link to it on your blog.
I have been popping in from time to time, and watching the videos of the new named little Toby, I can't believe how fast he is growing. I'm with you about the Toblerone it is my favorite chocolate, there are three of us in the family, Me,Howard my husband and Son Simon, Toblerone has 15 pieces so it always worked out just right for dividing up! Oh and George is a big member of the family, but as you know he can't have any.
Don't know the book.
Thanks Again
Jan

Could it have been a "Little Golden Book" title? The format really sounds like one. You can google or search on Amazon for little golden books and get some lists. Maybe a title will jar your memory.

Hi MaxMom
I'm afraid I can't help you with the Toby book. But I wonder, do you have 'Toby jugs' in South Africa? I have no idea of the origin of these objects - jugs in the form of a person, usually comical - and but they seemed to be more common in my childhood than now.
Oh, and regarding your comment on my latest post - please don't feel unobservant! I only meant that as there is no barrier between the rear 'dog area' and the front seat in my friend Ian's car, it is easy for an agile and persistent little fellow like Bertie to clamber over into the front - that is the 'flaw' in the set up!
Cheers, and continued Happy Blogging!
Gail.

We just got back and I had to check in to see the puppies! And I will also visit George - sounds like he has wise words! Your puppy is A-dorable! Toby is a wonderful name for him and I wish I knew this book, but alas... I don't remember this story - some LIKE it, but not as short. Give Toby a kiss for us and to Tammy and Toffee too!
Hugs xoxoxo

I think I told you months ago that blogging shouldn't be seen as a chore. I've read too many wonderful blogs where the person's last post said that they were quitting for a while because all of the fun was gone - the initial enthusiasm flew our the door.

Blogs, to me, are works of art. They can be plain or they can be highly ornate. I like both because it is the content that gets me reading and keeps me going back. Something pulls at my ♥ - just as you and Maxdog did earlier this year.

To blog or not to blog...that is the question☺

I also loved George's blog when I saw it! Every word was so true. We are looking forward to cooler weather when we can take day trips and get pictures and will have something fun to talk about. You, with a new puppy on the way will have so much to do!! Little Toby...this is so exciting! I don't remember the book though but it's been so many decades ago, I'm lucky to remember what happened last week! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
