TAMMY'S LETTER TO MAX...
Dear Maxi...
I know you're not well
I'll just let you be...
But I must tell you
What you mean to me...
You're my companion, my hero,
My life-long friend!
We are side-by-side
'Till the bitter end!
We've danced in the grass,
We've sniffed all the smells,
We've routed out rats,
And other "no tells"!
Us running "Free"
has been part of my glee,
In the parks, in the ponds
Lying quiet under a tree.
I've licked your wounds,
I've stood by your side
I am YOUR TAMMY-GIRL!
I've nothing to hide!
I know you love Mom,
You're devoted to her,
But our bed is OURS
Where we will not stir!
The mornings I've loved
When we've played in the sun
Lying on your back
As I've nipped at your tum'!
You're fun that way!
...and also at dusk,
...and also at dusk,
running trenches in the garden
with absolutely no fuss!
You can have my bed
and so too my treats,
You can ALWAYS go first,
despite TOFFEE's bleats.
But Ibises are mine!
You always knew!
One day! One day!
I'll catch one...especially for YOU!
You always knew!
One day! One day!
I'll catch one...especially for YOU!
Thank you for insisting
on our evening walk.
Getting Mom going
and learning to 'talk'.
You've always been there
to take the lead,
Showing the way
In your every deed.
So now, my Max
As you sleep through the time,
I'll be there for you,
I'll tow the line!
You are my hero, my companion,
a really special friend!
I love you, MY MAX
I love you, MY MAX
Until the bitter end!
With lotsalicks from
Your...
TAMMY-GIRL

My first visit after a long while to say "hello" and you brought tears to my eyes with this beautifully written, heartfelt letter from Tammy.
I feel so sad yet so comforted by the sight of these two soulmates. If Tammy could speak, this is exactly what she would have said. In fact, her Eyes says it all.
much love,
lilian
What a special reltionship. Those paws on Max's shoulder say it all: "I love you Maxdog, and don't you forget it!!"

What a lovely tribute to a special kind of love. This brought tears to my eyes.
Makes me want to run out and get another dog, but not yet, I keep telling myself. Between Kira's illness and Scampi's psychosis....
I know Tammy is going to have as much trouble with this as you are. God bless her.

This open letter is so beautiful! It made me cry. It's going to be really hard on Tammy too when Max goes. Keeping him in my prayers.
What a wonderful life Maxdog has - to be loved so much, not only by his mom, but also by his girlfriend. My mum has been thinking of getting me a fur-friend of my own sometime, and this letter and the lovely photos have made her eyes leak as she sees the special bond Max and Tammy have.
Thnking of you all,

We think it it just awesome the way that you have chosen to help out other animals that are in distress, too! It's like there are HUGE bubbles of Rainbow love being formed at your place and floating up and around the world to all of us. Grammy and the Country Corgis
What a beautiful letter and what beautiful doggies you have. I'm sitting here crying as I re-read this wonderful post. My Neeli is sitting next to me - knowing that soon she too will be saying similar things when her K9 sister Apples' time comes.

Oh C,
This post is one of your best!
Tammy's love for Max is overwhelming.
Thank you for always finding a way to make us, your loyal readers, feel a part of your family.
Hugs to all,
Kit
That is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read. I sit here and cry knowing the inevitable of Max's life. I also know in the end, it's not about us and how the blogging community has loved him...nor his human family (though I know it will devestate you)but it's about his Tammy-girl and how it will affect her as well. She is going to be so heart broken and that just makes me cry. They have a beautiful relationship.

That is beautiful. I so wish things were different. Max sleeps most of the time now?
He knows you and Tammy are there. Always remember, hearing is last to go and whether you think he hears you or not, he does...

Oh wow, I have tears streaming down my face. That is a beewootiful poem Tammy and Maxmom and a bit too close to home for us at the moment as we lost our dearest Prince to cancer a week and a half ago.
We so know what you are going through with Max, just be grateful he is still here with you (as I know you are) and make the most of the time you have together. Prince and I went on some very special outings in his last few months, I will never forget those.
If you need someone to talk to or ask anything please don't hesitate to contact me.
