FOOTBALL FRIDAY AND TAMMY'S METAMORPHOSIS...

GREETINGS FROM SUNNY SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXMOM here...
One can tell so much from a dog's body language.
Since Maxdog's crossing, ten days ago,
TAMMY GIRL
is slowly making the transition to being the only Golden in our household.
Tammy has always had a 'sad' face.  Even when she's in full flight...if you catch her on camera, her face still 'looks' sad although she is not. With Max gone, my focus has been mainly on her and I had forgotten just how sad she can look. At first she was confused and tentative with this new singular life, but she is slowly emerging into her own.  One can see this so pertinently on her walks...

"Hurry up humans!"...

Patiently waiting for us to open the front gate...
"What's that?....a hadedah?!"
en route...
Caught in the sunset...
It's winter now and most of the leaves have fallen off our trees. All that remains are these little seed balls.
Nature uses everything...and when these balls drop onto the streets, cars ride over them and break them up. This exposes their little seeds which are quickly pecked up by waiting doves...

I just find the whole process so beautiful!...

On this particular walk, Tammy was accompanied by her "Mom" - my eldest daughter - and Tammy simply adored her company...
Whilst we make our adjustments in our own household, the world around us is buzzing.
All our shops are in the Soccer World Cup Spirit.  It is "Football Friday" here today so most South Africans are wearing T-shirts displaying their favourite team.  This lady is wearing the "Bafana Bafana" (Our team) supporters' shirt...
But you can purchase items to show your support for any of the 32 participating world teams...
Even the 'creative', non-sporting types (like some of us) are catered for...look at this display of knitting wool...quite amazing!...
Whilst at the shops today, I purchased a string of all the 32 flags of the countries of the participating teams.  Hopefully we'll be able to attach them to the roof over our entrance this weekend.  That way, I will be able to show you that, no matter what country you are from...I will be supporting you! :)  We'll try and get the photograph this weekend.

Sending lotsaluv to you all.
Have a super weekend and if you happen to be in the Southern Hemisphere...
KEEP WARM!

WOW,,,we have those pods in Tennessee! When I was a little girl we made Christmas ornaments with them; yes, we were poor but I love them still. We wrapped them with different colored yarn or spray painted them.
You know, I think Tammy is smiling in all those pictures.
Have a great weekend.

So pleased that Tammy is adapting and enjoying her evening walks. Perhaps, again, our dogs have something to teach us about resilience.

I can just imagine how excited everyone in South Africa must must about the World Cup. Almost the first football match I remember watching was the 1966 World Cup Final (on the black and white TV in the lounge of the guest house where we were staying on our annual Summer holiday on the Isle of Wight). Aged seven, I was too young to put the England victory into context and just thought of it as something quite normal. This I think explains the permanently unrealistic expectations that many English people of my generation have about the England football team's performance on a world stage! It was also, incidentally, my first introduction to anti-English prejudice common amongst Scots. There was a Scottish family staying at the same guest house and I clearly recall my profound shock when the young Scots lad cheered at West Germany's opening goal!

So much for football binding nations!

Have a great weekend. We too in this corner of the Northern Hemisphere are hoping to stay warm this weekend...

Best wishes, Gail.

PS I have to tell you that the verification word is 'maxoboyi'

Tammy-Girl looks like she injoyed her walk, It will take time for her to find her place, but I am sure she will flourish in the weeks to come.
Football well I don't even know the rules only that you kick a ball around! But you look like you are ready for the invasion, and the flags on your last post look great, looking forward to seeing the photo of your flags.

My Savannah Leigh looked sad all of her 15 years even when she was deliriously thrilled with life!

I did catch a little smile on Tammy in one of your photos - what a cutie pie!

I'll be looking forward to seeing all of the flags! That will be such a great keepsake of this world-wide event.

Have a great weekend! Cool and rain is on the weather menu so looks like I'll be inside cleaning!☺

Tammy seems a source of strength as she begins to accept her new role in your family; of course, grief has good days and bad days, so I certainly hope the good will outnumber the bad soon...Sending lots of love and hugs...Stay safe.

We have some similar seed pods here! The dogs aren't fond of them because they stick to their feet.

I feel enthusiastic over the cup for you! I hope the games are exciting and entertaining to watch!

Tammy Girl is a sweetheart - how can your heart not melt looking at that face?

That is wonderful to see all the festivities unfold in anticipation. I bet it's a very exciting time - even though I don't get into the sports scene too much anymore - nice to see people plan together in team spirit.

Enjoy,

Doris :-)

Tammy will adjust in time. I think I see a smile in a few pictures!! Both of you are so lucky to have each other! She is a beautiful girl. I can't wait to see more pictures of the games! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

I'm curious about that seed pod too and wonder what kind of flower it produces. It's an interesting looking thing!

I guess because I was always looking at Max, I never really noticed how beautiful Tammy is! She really is a beautiful dog! I've been keeping her in my prayers and hoping she'll adjust.

That's pretty cool you bought a string of flags from the participating countries. I visited a friend's church once and they had flags from various countries displayed. I'd never seen that in a church before. My friend said it was to show that everyone was welcome there. I really liked that!

After a rain, and we've been having them nightly, it seems, our driveway is sprinkled with those prickly orbs, which we call gum balls. And as a youngster, I recall plenty of craft projects involving gum balls, seeds and copious amounts of glue, where we'd transform them into little furry animals.

Tammy has such a sweet, shy girl grin. She's gorgeous!

Your pal,

Petey

Tammy looks beautiful. I love your banner photo - she is a spectacular looking girl. And, her disposition seems so sweet. I'm glad that you and she have each other as friends during your grieving and hopefully for a very long time.

I came to read this entry of yours again because I always catching something more the second time around. I read that your stores are featuring items from quite a few countries so you can cheer for whomever you choose.

I have an IDEA! When the US plays you can wave the dish towel I sent to you in the air like a pom-pom as you do your very best, loudest and most creative cheer! What do you think? Good idea?☺ Will you ask 'the Boss' to take a photo of you doing your 'dish towel cheer' so you can blog about it, hehehe!?

Caryl (and Tammy), I so enjoy seeing photos of your beautiful country, thank you for sharing!

My husband saw the seed pod and said: "That looks like liquid amber." These trees get the most brilliantly colored fall foliage. They're native to the American South but are quite popular as ornamental trees here in California. The botanical name is "Liquidambar styraciflua." Do you have them in South Africa, Caryl, or might this be a related type of tree?

I missed this when it was posted (our internet connection has been down here at home) and I'm so glad to see that Tammy is finding her way. I'm sure Max is there beside her and giving her the confidence she needs and you are there to reassure her as well!! :-)) I hope you're having a great weekend!
