WAITING FOR TOBY...(A disjointed blogpost)

GREETINGS FROM SUNNY SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXMOM here...

Hello there to all my friends across the wold!
If I've not visited your blogs lately, please forgive me...I am directing all my available resources towards a really big writing project at the moment. As they say...I have to "Make hay while the sun shines"!
Thankfully I'm making excellent progress and I am really hoping that Maxdog's book will eventually emerge in the manner in which I am planning....
Only time will tell!

---xXx---

We are having a serious bout of "Puppy Fever" in our household at the moment and I really can't wait for TOBY PUPPY's sweet little nature to fill the rooms of our home. I have calculated that if all goes well,he'll arrive around the 27th September 2010 - 3 weeks away - our "Heritage Day"!  How apt!
---xXx---
Our two other pooches have been taking life really easy.

Both TAMMY-GIRL and KING-TOFFEE are entering their golden years, but both are still very active....
(Can you spot TOFFEE in the picture above????)
"Eish! But it's a hard life!"
But we really do need some youthful vitality amongst the canine pack, don't we?!

Although TAMMY keeps a good eye on me nowadays and stays at my side during the day, she demands her afternoon walks! They are not negotiable!
Since there are only two dogs in our household at the moment, I have been taking the KING along too. He's loving it, but unfortunately doesn't have enough liquid reserves to mark all the plants along the way! LOL!
The walks have made me realise that I need to give serious consideration as to how I am going to walk all three of them, in the weeks to come...?
---xXx---

Spring is just around the corner!!!...

(Oops! Sorry! Wrong picture!)
Let's try again...

---xXx---

SPRING IS HERE!!!
The weaver bird now has a total of eight nests!
(Yes...he built them all himself!)
One can't be too prepared when it comes to feathered females!
He really is such an amazing little creature! He's occupied our garden for a number of years now and each year, it's the same procedure...more and more nests!...which frequently get stripped and re-built!
---xXx---
So whilst we pace out the weeks ahead, lets remind ourselves what TOBY looks like...
And two of his sisters...

So sleepy!

And I just had to repeat one of my all-time favourites...

Sending lotsaluv to you all!

I did spot Toffee's little feet in that picture of Tammy! She is so beautiful. Also, look at Toffee smiling on his walk...he's all about the stroll with Tammy.
Keep writing. Head down, nose to the grind stone,,,etc.
much love from the holler...

Toby is such a cutie! And I understand about the puppy fever - I was the same way when I was waiting for the kittens to arrive - it is so fun and yet seems so LONG! It is going to be so fun for Tammy and The King to have him around to play with and I bet he will help to keep them young!

Caryl, he is so absolutely precious. I bet his ears are all silky and soft and his belly is perfect for rubbing and he probably walks with a little bounce to his step. Puppies are SO much work but they are SO cute!

Oh puppy cuteness!!! Love the spring nests, how fantastic to watch the progress. Just got a quick hi in to Samantha and puppy sis, Avalon. Oh my how Ava has grown in just 2 weeks! So peppy and sweet following Sammie around! You are going to have a ball with little Toby joining in the mix :)
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

First off I think that Tammy and Toffee are just resting up for the arrival of Toby (got a "T" thing going on there Caryl)!

That Weaver Bird is one industrious bird!

Little Toby just seems so very mellow and relaxed for such a little one, I do believe that he is an "old soul".

You are giving every Mom the I want a puppy feeling! But we will enjoy living it through you!

woo woos, Tessa

Hi MaxMom
Great to hear that the writing project is progressing well. I suspect I'm not the only dog blogger to be eagerly anticipating the result.
But it will be a challenge focussing on anything but dear little Toby once he arrives. As for the walking problem with the old and young dogs, well, it will be a challenge! A couple of times a weeks I take a housebound neighbour's elderly Westie out for a walk in the park. At first I had to take him separately from Bertie, but now that my pup is learning to behave himself, he can be trusted to scamper around by himself and work off his excess energy while I keep the Westie on the lead and we plod sedately round, all the while keeping an eye on Bertie, and it sort of works!
Cheers,
Gail.

I am having a case of puppy fever everytime I look at Toby and the other puppies! He and his brothers and sisters are so very adorable! Your picture of spring around the corner (the first one) reminds me of the construction on my street! I'd rather look at the puppies!!! I can't wait!!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

I'm having puppy fever right along with you after seeing those adorable puppy pictures. Three weeks still seems so far away and yet so close.

That's a pretty bird! Hard to believe he made all those nests himself. I'm kind of glad he comes back year after year. He must be really happy there.

The secret to being able to mark everything on your walk is just to wee a little bit. At least that's what Chico does and he thinks he has to mark EVERYTHING along the way.

Momma had three doggies for a while, me, Raja, and Angus. She took THREE walkies. Grandpa Angus could not go very far and I wasn't supposed to walk too long on the hard sidewalk when I was a baby, but I was still too big to handle with another dog and Raja, well, she was 190 pounds so too much to share as well. I think it used to take her about 90 minutes to walk all of us. I also think sometimes she cheated and only walked one or two.

Puppy fever is such a great feeling. I'm sure Tammy & Toffee will be shell shocked when Toby comes home to stay! Can't wait to read your book about Max too.

I love the "find the King" photo. I would never had noticed him otherwise! It does look like he has an arduous life of living on a chain in the back yard :)

Speaking of walking 3 dogs on leash - when we were preparing for the same transition from 2 to 3 a few years ago, I wondered the same thing. Oh my, all those leashes... But, I didn't even consider that one of those three dogs would be a wee puppy who would be *constantly* trying to play with the other two and with everything in the world at the same time. Let me tell you - walking three was darn near impossible until R grew up a little. Not that I minded, the antics of a puppy make my heart sing!

I love hearing your anticipation. It brings back memories of each puppy who has joined our family. Sept 27 seems very far away to me too! I can't wait!

Caryl
Your home is going to be filled with excitement soon. I just know "new life " will come to everyone including King Toffee and Tammy Girl. Of cours they will have to show Toby the ropes on how to do stuff, and of course how to get his way by begging or looking pittiful. I cannot wait to see a photo of all 3 going for a walkie.
I love the photo where I searched for Toffee,,, oh yes,,, I see him for sure.
Spring has so much promise ahead, I love it when you talk about the changes and the birds and flowers.
It just makes me feel good inside.
Thank you for sharing all those wonderful photos of cuteness!
