LADY OF THE LONG GLOVE

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!
MAXMOM here...

Hello there to all our friends across the world.
What a week its been!

I have had about five days without access to a computer and it's been most frustrating. Wave after wave of computer problems and the end is still not quite in sight.  In a way however, its been a blessing in disguise, because my attention had to be divided between Toby's intensive Training for the Annie production (He's doing well despite becoming a total hooligan at times), editing my book and planning for the all important 21st birthday party for Miss "R", which took place on Saturday evening.

Today's post is about these important celebrations.

The celebrations were in honor of the coming of age of:
"QUEEN BOBBIN: LADY OF THE LONG GLOVE"
(If you haven't noticed, the name she chose for herself has distinct Veterinary connotations)

The celebrations were held at "GREENSLEEVES" - a medieval banquetting hall - located on the fringe of our big city.

In the spirit of the event, all the "Lords" and "Ladies" dressed up in Medieval attire to give full meaning to the celebrations.

We all had great fun selecting our special costumes at Merlin's costume hire on the premises.
(Queen Mother...?)

Miss "R", aka "The Lady of the Long Glove"
had secured her own title through the formal enthronement of her and Mr "R" as "King and Queen" for the evening.

By so doing they secured the Royal Table for their subjects.

What an extraordinary evening filled with dancing and high revelry.

The food was excellent - despite the obvious absence of cutlery

...and the entertainment was rivetting.

All the traditions of medieval times were upheld during the evening. To their delight, guests had to 'beg for salt' from the Royal couple.

"Sire, I desire some salt for my Squire?"

...and "Wenches" (That's you and I, ladies!) had to be available for whatever whim befell their Squires, LOL!

The Baron of the house kept everyone laughing and the traditional music was very festive indeed.

It was a party to remember!

Once again:
"Happy Birthday Miss "R" and congratulations on achieving this great milestone!
We hope that the long glove is put to wise use"

Sending lotsaluv to you all.

You would love our Madrigal Dinner. It's given every year in honor of Hospice and those who are no longer with us but at the same time to celebrate those who have battled cancer and won. The festivities take place for three days with minstrels, and court jesters and knights and ladies in waiting and princes and kings and queens and serfs and...well, you know. It it fabulous. All of the food are traditional medieval fare and, like yours, eaten with your hands.

The tickets go on sale in the fall and the dinner is held in December. Throngs of people attend from year to year.

The party looked like so much fun. Congrats on your birthday, sweet one. Enjoy your youth - the best part of your life.
