A SHOPPING EXPEDITION AND NO TREATS!

GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA!

TOBY (the Tour Guide) here...

Hello there every-furry buddy!
Okay, so I'm rather sleepy, but it's Friday, so I thought I'd give you a little tour around my neighbourhood. "Maxmom" went on a little excursion while I caught up on my beauty sleep, but let me tell you about it.

Firstly, "Maxmom" had to fill up her car with petrol and she told me that you might be interested in the fact that here, in South Africa, we have 'Petrol Attendants'.

These are folk who are employed by the filling stations and their duties include filling up your car, checking your tyre pressure, checking your oil and water and washing your windows.
Many visitors to our country are always surprised that we don't fill up our own cars and check our own tyre pressures.  Well, we are lucky!

Maxmom had a very friendly attendant!

Once the car was filled up, she was back on the road again...
to dodge the ever prevailing TAXI's!

Then "Maxmom" went off to Cresta shopping centre which she says is a hive of Christmas activity.
This picture resulted in her being stopped by one of the security guards:
"You are not allowed to take photos in the shopping centre!" a gruff security guard told her.
"You have to get permission from centre management!"

Well, Maxmom thinks that our readers are important folk, so she went off to get permission.

I think they thought she might be a security risk
My Maxmom a security risk???
Eish, that's hard to believe!

Having being granted approval, she set about taking pictures:
The book store:

Lots of yummy books to chew up read!

There were all sort of stalls along the sidewalks.  This one sold personalised Christmas stockings.  No "TOBY" stockings?!

Gift presentation baskets on sale.

Music to enhance your shopping experience.
And lots of decorations....

Oh well, since Maxmom returned without any 'treats' for me, I must say that I am generally
UNIMPRESSED with her shopping expedition.

Perhaps I'll have better luck next time?!

Sending lotsalicks to you all.
I hope you have a happy weekend and that you get
LOTSATREATS!!!
(If you get some...p-l-e-a-s-e send some my way, BOL!)

I can't believe you need authorization to take pictures. I never thought of that! Well, this weekend I have to get going and wrap, shop and help my mom get her things done for the holiday!

hiyas toby!!

i'm feelin' kinda snoozy today, too. besides, it's coooold outside, so me 'n asa can't really spend too much time doin' zoomies in the backyard!
well, my mama is totally wishin' that we had attendants at our gas stations here in the U.S. she says she used to be able to choose between "self-service" and "full-service," but that's pretty rare now.
i'm sorry maxmom got harassed tryin' to take pictures at the mall! why on earth would those mall peeps think that she was a security risk?!
happy weekend, and i hope you get some treatsies ASAP!!!

No Toby stocking? How could that be? They need to add it fur next year! You know Toby, this is your first Christmas, just like our soon-to-be-born little brother. Wonder if your Maxmom got you any baby's first Christmas ornaments.

We wish you and your Maxmom and the rest of the furmily a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year!

In France, there used to be attendants to fill up your tank, maybe to wash the screen, and if you asked nicely, they would check the pressure too. I just hate doing anything to my car, I would love SOuth Africa for that.

We are impressed with your attendants that do all of that for your car! I don't think that's happened around here for at least three decades or more! Now it's do it yourself or it doesn't get done. That is wonderful! We're glad they didn't decide mum was a security risk..hehe...that thought is funny...kind of like us being one. We guess they can't be too careful though these days. Toby, you have grown so much and you are so good looking!! What a handsome guy you are turning into but you are still a puppy and don't forget it!! We know you will get some treats very soon!! Lots of love, Holly and mom

Thanks for the shopping expedition tour.

Toby I think, as well as treats, you need to ask Santa-paws for a new basket to sleep in as you are growing up so fast!

Sending you woofs and love,
Riley

Yep, we used to have "full service" too -- and I miss it. Happily husband takes my car to be filled up most of the time.

I love seeing how other countries decorate for Christmas. I was in Singapore one December and was amazed at how elaborate all the decorations were. Thank for sharing.

Finally, Toby my boy, you look as though you are getting a bit too big for your bed. Tell your Mom so maybe she can find you a new bed for Christmas the next time she goes on one of those expeditions!

A shopping expedition with NO TREATS!
Tell me it isn't so Toby.
Gail says can you send some of those nice polite petrol station attendants over here please? Of course, perhaps they might not be quite so polite if they had to be standing around in our cold (especially cold so far this year) Scottish winters...

Hi Toby!
Sounds like Maxmom had a bunch of fun... that place looks awesome!
And yes, I am quite suprised that in SA you don't have to fill up your own cars... thats awesome!

Sometimes those guards at malls & shopping centers can be kinda rude. I am glad they granted your Mom permission for the blog! Who knows...maybe the manager is a follower? LOL!

Talk to you soon!

I am disappointed that they had no Toby stockings.. There will be no hope of a Koda stocking then!

We have petrol attendants too but only at some service stations... others will just wait at the counter for Ma to fill up and come in and pay. But she doesn't mind!

Hi Sleepyhead!
Your Mom is lucky - attendants who pump gas - that stopped a while ago here in Philadelphia.

We're sure there's a Toby stocking hiding somewhere! We're also glad that Maxmom got permission to take pictures - it's interesting to see how other countries celebrate the Christmas holiday.

See ya later!

Poor Toby, what was your mom thinking not getting you any goodies?!

We used to have self service and full service here. The full service meant someone came out and filled up your car for you. They usually washed your windshield too. Haven't seen any places like that in awhile.

Hmm, I don't get why it would be an issue to take pictures of the mall. I've never taken any at our malll, I wonder if someone would say something if I did.
